Many changes are happening every day in open source, and we as an industry are constantly wondering what to expect next. We have a very interesting webinar coming up next week, Open Source Outlook: Expected Developments for 2016. Our panelists, Karen Copenhaver and Mark Radcliffe, are among the most knowledgeable open source attorneys. Karen is the legal counsel for The Linux Foundation and Mark is the legal counsel for the Open Source Initiative (OSI), which makes them uniquely informed in the open source industry. To say that they have their fingers on the pulse of the crazy world of open source is an understatement.

In our previous webinar, they shared insights on the many interesting developments in open source last year (webinar recording). A few of the topics covered in this webinar include new lawsuits: enforcing GPLv2 and patent litigation, GPL guides, FOSS trademark issues, the Android community, the free and open source software (FOSS) business model, the launch of new global collaboration platforms, and more.

In this new webinar, they will be pulling out the crystal balls and projecting what you should watch out for this year.

What to Expect

Karen Copenhaver and Mark Radcliffe will cover a variety of topics, ranging from:

  • open source security
  • blossoming community efforts to standardize open source compliance processes
  • rapidly ramping corporate involvement in collaborative projects (many under the auspices of the Linux Foundation)
  • where the Hellwig/VMware case in Germany seems to be going

If you have not checked out our webinars before, they are generally well-received by both technical and legal professionals. There will be time for questions and answers, so bring your questions on April 20. For attorneys whose bar associations require continuing education, these sessions carry CLE credits.

We would love to have you join us. Register now at https://www.brighttalk.com/webcast/13983/199723
